Lower tobacco quantities travellers may bring in (one carton)
Article 51 of the third amending finance law for 2020 lowers the thresholds of article 575 I of the General Tax Code above which a person carrying manufactured tobacco is deemed to hold it for commercial purposes: 200 cigarettes instead of 800, 100 cigarillos instead of 400, 50 cigars instead of 200 and 250 grams of smoking tobacco instead of one kilogram, whatever its origin.

Measure impact
Travellers bringing tobacco into France above one carton of cigarettes (200), 100 cigarillos, 50 cigars or 250 g of tobacco were presumed to hold it for commercial purposes. Article 575 I was repealed with effect from 29 March 2024.
