Allowance on share income restored for taxpayers in the top bracket
Article 6 of the 2003 Finance Act amends paragraph 3 of Article 158 of the General Tax Code. Since the 2001 Finance Act, the annual allowance on share income did not apply to taxpayers whose taxable income exceeded the limit of the top bracket. For these taxpayers, the allowance is halved for 2002 income and then applied in full from 2003 income. The measure stems from an amendment of the Senate finance committee (Philippe Marini), modified at the government's request to spread the cost over two years.
