Article 71 (I, 2°) of the 2026 Finance Act merges, in the table of standard excise rates on motor fuels, the jet fuel and petrol lines into a single 'jet fuels and petrol' line at €77.647 per megawatt-hour. The jet fuel rate thus rises from €76.826 to €77.647/MWh from 1 March 2026.

Jet fuels subject to excise are taxed at the same rate as petrol, €0.821/MWh more. According to the impact assessment, the effect is below €0.5M given the small volumes involved; the 2024 Finance Act had already aligned the two rates before they diverged.
