Aid for preventive sanitary uprooting of vines in Gironde
Decree No. 2023-1055 of 18 November 2023 creates, as part of the fight against flavescence dorée, aid of €6,000 per hectare for the preventive sanitary uprooting of vines in the Gironde department, authorised by the European Commission on 3 November 2023 under State-aid rules. Owners must uproot irreversibly, not replant elsewhere, and reforest or turn the plots into natural areas for at least twenty years. The award procedures are set by an order of the same day. The aid is paid within available appropriations.

Measure impact
Owners of vineyards in Gironde, whether farming them or not, could apply from 20 November to 20 December 2023; according to the prefecture, about 1,200 applications were received. The State funds €30 million, committing up to €38 million, and the Bordeaux wine trade body €19 million for a diversification strand.
