Aid for energy-intensive mid-sized companies facing high electricity costs in 2024

Decree No. 2024-251 of 22 March 2024 creates a grant for energy-intensive companies with fewer than 5,000 employees (turnover up to €1.5bn or balance sheet up to €2bn) that paid at least €300/MWh under an electricity contract signed or renewed before 30 June 2023. The aid covers 50% of electricity costs above €300/MWh for the four quarters of 2024, subject to a fall in gross operating surplus, up to €2.25m per group and within the EU temporary crisis framework ceilings.
