State aid created for farmers setting up in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon
Decree No. 2026-161 of 5 March 2026 creates in the Rural and Maritime Fishing Code (art. D. 374-5 to D. 374-15) a State aid scheme for setting up in farming in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon. It is reserved for individuals who have been farming for less than five years or wish to start, who show professional capacity (level 4 farming diploma, ongoing training, or thirty months' experience with a level 3 diploma), submit a business plan and make activity commitments; the aid can be withdrawn if conditions are not met. The aid amount is set, up to €100,000 per beneficiary, according to whether an existing farm is taken over, whether farming is the main or a secondary activity, the environmental impact and the diversification of the project; calculation rules are set by order of the State representative.
