Retirement-equivalent allowance reinstated on an exceptional basis for 2010
Decree No. 2010-458 of 6 May 2010 reinstates, on an exceptional basis, the retirement-equivalent allowance (AER) for jobseekers who, between 1 January and 31 December 2010 and before age 60, have the contribution period required for a full-rate pension. Subject to a means test (48 times the daily amount for a single person, 69 times for a couple), the allowance guarantees a maximum of €32.69 per day, paid in addition to or instead of unemployment benefit, the specific solidarity allowance or the RSA. A retroactive top-up is paid for the period from 1 January 2010 to the decree’s entry into force. Applications must be filed by 31 December 2010; rights opened continue until they expire.
