Lump-sum allowance paid upon the death of a child

Decree No. 2020-1688 of 23 December 2020, implementing Article 5 of Law No. 2020-692 of 8 June 2020, sets the permanent rules for a lump-sum allowance paid by the family allowance funds (CAF or MSA) to the person or couple who cared for a child who died before the age of 25, including deaths from the 20th week of pregnancy. The amount equals 485.05% of the monthly family-benefit base below an income ceiling, and 242.53% above it.

In 2021: €2,010.05 for families whose 2019 income is below the ceiling (€87,385 with one dependent child, increased per child), €1,005.04 above it. Paid automatically to families already receiving benefits. Applies to deaths from 1 January 2021; cannot be combined with a social security death grant.
