Creation of the daily parental presence allowance (AJPP)
Article 87 of the 2006 Social Security Financing Act replaces the parental presence allowance with a daily parental presence allowance (Articles L. 544-1 to L. 544-9 of the Social Security Code). It is paid for each day of parental presence leave taken by the parent of a child with a particularly serious illness, disability or accident, up to 310 daily allowances for the same child and condition over a maximum period set by decree. The daily amount, set by decree, is increased for single parents; a means-tested supplement for expenses is provided. Parental presence leave for employees and civil servants is reorganised in days, up to 310 working days. The provisions apply to applications filed from 1 May 2006; recipients of the former allowance keep it until it ends.
