Creation of a life annuity of €3,415 per year for surviving spouses of former harkis
Article 133 of the Finance Act for 2016 created a life annuity of €3,415 per year, indexed to prices excluding tobacco, for surviving spouses and former spouses (married or in a civil partnership) of harkis, moghaznis and members of other auxiliary forces who served in Algeria and live in France. It is reserved for those who have not remarried, do not receive the recognition allowance and apply within one year of the death. It is exempt from income tax.

Measure impact
Widows and widowers of former auxiliary soldiers can receive an annual allowance of €3,415. For deaths before the article came into force, applications were accepted until 31 December 2016; the allowance is shared between successive spouses according to the length of the union.
