Competitiveness and employment tax credit (CICE): rate cut from 7% to 6% in 2018
Article 86 of the 2018 Finance Act lowers the CICE rate from 7% to 6% for wages paid in 2018 (wages up to 2.5 times the minimum wage), then abolishes the credit for wages paid from 1 January 2019, when it is converted into a cut in employer contributions.
Measure originators
A positive amount is revenue or savings for public finances; a negative amount is a cost or lost revenue.
Measure impact
Companies with employees receive a tax credit equal to 6% of eligible wages paid in 2018, instead of 7% in 2017. The budget effect of the cut appears in 2019, when the credit earned in 2018 is offset.
