2013 car malus scale: tax from 136 g CO2/km and up to €6,000
The 2013 Finance Act tightened the malus on registering new passenger cars: the tax applies from 136 g CO2/km (€100 between 136 and 140 g) and reaches €6,000 above 200 g. For vehicles without CO2 type-approval, it ranges from €800 (6 to 7 fiscal horsepower) to €6,000 (over 16 horsepower).

Measure impact
The measure concerns buyers of new cars emitting more than 135 g CO2/km, for vehicles registered from 1 January 2013. According to the Senate report, malus revenue funds the ecological bonus. The scale was amended by the 2014 Finance Act.
