Employment areas to be revitalised: exemptions from profit tax, local taxes and social contributions
Article 130 of the 2006 Amending Finance Act creates employment areas to be revitalised, designated by regulation among areas with unemployment three points above the national average and declining population and employment. Activities created in these areas between 1 January 2007 and 31 December 2011 are exempt from income or corporate tax for seven years (Article 44 duodecies of the General Tax Code), from business tax and property tax on buildings for five years, and from employer social security contributions for seven years, within the limits set by the article. The social exemption applies from 1 January 2007. The list of areas was set by Decree no. 2007-228 of 20 February 2007. The scheme has been extended several times.
