Ecological bonus lowered, scrappage premium and bicycle bonus abolished on 2 December 2024

Decree No. 2024-1084 of 29 November 2024 sets the ecological bonus for a new passenger car at €4,000 (reference taxable income per share up to €16,300), €3,000 (up to €26,200) or €2,000 (above), within a maximum budget set by ministerial order. It abolishes the bonus for new vans, motorised two- and three-wheelers and quadricycles, and bicycles, as well as the scrappage premium and the low-emission-zone top-up.

Measure impact

From 2 December 2024, aid for a new electric car falls from €7,000 to €4,000 for low-income households, and from €4,000 to €3,000 or €2,000 for other households depending on income; there is no longer any national aid for bicycles or scrappage premium. Earlier orders keep the former rules if invoiced by 14 February 2025. The bonus was then replaced on 1 July 2025 by an aid funded by energy savings certificates (separate entry).
