Higher education grants: creation of levels 0 bis (€1,000) and 7 (€5,500)

The order of 6 August 2013 set the rates of means-tested higher education grants for 2013-2014, from 1 September 2013, across nine levels. It created a level 0 bis, paid in cash (€1,000 a year over ten months) to students previously entitled only to an exemption from tuition and student social security fees (level 0), and a level 7 of €5,500 for the lowest-income students. The other levels range from €1,653 (level 1) to €4,735 (level 6).

Measure impact

Students previously only exempt from fees receive financial aid, and the lowest-income students a higher grant. Income ceilings are set by a second order of the same day.
