Unemployment insurance opened to employees who resign to pursue a career-change project
Provided for by the law of 5 September 2018 on the freedom to choose one's professional future, access to the return-to-work allowance for employees who resign to pursue a career-change project is implemented by the decree on the unemployment insurance scheme. The employee must show at least 1,300 days worked over the previous 60 months and a project requiring training or the creation or takeover of a business, whose genuine and serious nature is certified by a regional joint committee.

Measure impact
Employees with about five years of continuous work can resign to retrain while receiving benefits, provided their project is approved in advance. The scheme applies to resignations from 1 November 2019.
