Creation of the increased family supplement and uprating of the family support allowance (April 2014)

Decree No. 2014-419 of 23 April 2014 sets the increased family supplement at 45.82% of the monthly family allowance base (26.17% in the overseas departments) and its income ceilings for April-December 2014 (€10,360, plus €4,164). Decree No. 2014-420 of the same day defines the income ceiling of the increased family supplement (half the family supplement ceiling) and raises the family support allowance rates from 30% to 31.50% and from 22.5% to 23.63% of that base. These provisions apply to benefits due from 1 April 2014.

Measure impact

Low-income families with at least three children receive an increased family supplement, and single parents receiving the family support allowance see it rise by about 5% on 1 April 2014. The total 2014 cost of both measures was estimated at €110m.
