Full coverage of contraception extended to insured women under 26
Article 85 of the 2022 Social Security Financing Act extends to insured women under 26 the removal of the patient co-payment on contraception costs, previously limited to minors (Article L. 160-14, 21° of the Social Security Code), as well as exemption from paying upfront and coverage of sexual health prevention consultations. In force from 1 January 2022.
Measure originators
A positive amount is revenue or savings for public finances; a negative amount is a cost or lost revenue.
Measure impact
Women aged 18 to 25: reimbursable contraceptives, the consultation and related tests are covered 100% with no upfront payment. The impact assessment estimates that 1.6 million young women are concerned and the cost to health insurance at €21m per year.
