Exceptional 2.6% contribution from supplementary health insurers for 2020
Mutual insurers, insurance companies and provident institutions active on 31 December 2020 owe an exceptional contribution towards covid-19 related expenditure, equal to 2.6% of supplementary health insurance premiums collected in 2020. It is allocated to the national health insurance fund and must be declared by 31 January 2021 at the latest.
Measure originators
A positive amount is revenue or savings for public finances; a negative amount is a cost or lost revenue.
Measure impact
Supplementary health insurers pay about €1 billion to the national health insurance for 2020, the government considering that they made savings during the lockdown.
