Creation of the transport voucher exempt from income tax and social contributions
Articles 69 and 70 of the Act on employee profit-sharing and share ownership create the transport voucher (chèque-transport), a named special payment instrument that employers may prefund for their employees to cover home-to-work travel. It can be used with public transport companies or, for employees working outside urban transport areas or with special working hours, with fuel retailers. The employer's contribution is exempt from income tax, social security contributions and CSG-CRDS up to 50% of the public transport pass price or €100 a year for the fuel voucher. The act also allows employers to cover more than 50% of transport passes. Decree No. 2007-175 of 9 February 2007 governs issuance, issuer approval and use of the vouchers; the State compensates the contribution exemption.
