Creation of the aircraft noise tax, based on aircraft take-off weight
From 1 January 2005 the aircraft noise tax (article 1609 quatervicies A of the General Tax Code) replaces the noise component of the general tax on polluting activities. It is due on each take-off of an aircraft of 2 tonnes or more at airports with over 20,000 annual movements of aircraft of 20 tonnes or more. It is based on the logarithm of the maximum take-off weight, multiplied by an airport-specific rate and by a coefficient of 0.5 to 120 depending on the time and the aircraft's noise group. Rates: €10 to €22 (Paris-CDG, Paris-Orly, Toulouse-Blagnac), €4 to €8 (second group); the 2004 amending Finance Act creates a third group at €0.5 to €3. Revenue funds soundproofing aid for local residents.
