Higher research tax credit in the overseas departments: 50% for research and 40% for innovation
The 2015 Finance Act raised the research tax credit rate from 30% to 50% (on expenditure up to €100m) and the innovation tax credit rate from 20% to 40% for expenditure incurred from 1 January 2015 in establishments located in an overseas department. It applied from 2015 to companies meeting EU Regulation No 651/2014; for others it took effect the day after publication of Decree No 2015-1292 of 15 October 2015.

Measure impact
Companies incurring research or innovation expenditure in the overseas departments (54 research tax credit beneficiaries overseas in 2012 according to the impact assessment cited by the Senate). The expected gain for these companies was €4m a year at full rate.
