Farmers' replacement tax credit extended to 2024 and raised to 60% for sickness or work accidents

Article 77 of the 2022 Finance Act extends to 31 December 2024 the tax credit granted to farmers for staff costs incurred to replace them during leave (Article 200 undecies of the General Tax Code) and raises its rate from 50% to 60% for replacements due to sickness or a work accident, for expenses incurred from 1 January 2022.

Measure impact

Farmers whose daily presence is required (livestock farming in particular): 60% of replacement costs in case of sickness or a work accident are refunded as a tax credit. According to the tax expenditure annex, 34,455 beneficiaries and a cost of €26m in 2024 for the whole tax credit, since extended to 2027.
