Additional €500 per employee for farmers' contingency deduction
Article 47 of the 2004 Amending Finance Act amends Article 72 D ter(I) of the General Tax Code. When a farmer's profit exceeds the common ceiling for the investment and contingency deductions and the year's result is at least 40% above the average of the three previous years, the farmer may take an additional contingency deduction of €500 per full-time equivalent employee, up to the amount of profit. For part-time or part-year employees, full-time equivalence is calculated on a 1,820-hour basis. It applies to financial years beginning on or after 1 January 2005. The contingency deduction was replaced by the precautionary savings deduction in 2019.
