€30 annual fee to access State Medical Aid (AME)
Article 188 of the 2011 Finance Act creates Article 968 E of the General Tax Code: entitlement to State Medical Aid (AME) benefits is conditional on payment of an annual fee of €30 per adult beneficiary, paid as a stamp duty. Article L. 251-1 of the Social Action and Families Code is amended accordingly. The article also creates a National State Medical Aid Fund, managed by the Caisse des dépôts, which receives the stamp duty revenue. The fee applies to AME claims filed from 1 March 2011; its terms are set by Decree No. 2011-273 of 15 March 2011. It was abolished by the second amending finance act for 2012.
