Tobacconists: fee replaced by a licence duty above €152,500 of sales
Article 30 of the 2006 Finance Act amends Article 568 of the General Tax Code: the fee paid by tobacconists is replaced by a licence duty, equal to 23% of their commission, due above a turnover threshold on tobacco sales of €152,500 in mainland France. In Corsica, the threshold set at €101,600 was raised to €106,750 by the amending Finance Act for 2005 published the same day. The duty is calculated and paid monthly by suppliers on behalf of tobacconists, then refunded for the share of sales below the threshold. The reform accompanies the inclusion of the tobacco third-party account in the State budget.
