Inheritance tax exemption on property located in Corsica extended until 2010, then halved until 2015
Article 51 of the Corsica Act inserts Article 1135 bis into the General Tax Code. Property and property rights located in Corsica are exempt from inheritance duties for estates opened between publication of the Act and 31 December 2010, then for half their value for estates opened from 1 January 2011 to 31 December 2015; ordinary law applies thereafter. Where the deceased's ownership was not recorded in a published deed, the exemption requires notarial certificates to be published within twenty-four months of death. The filing deadline for these estates is extended to twenty-four months until 31 December 2008 and exemptions for partition and notoriety deeds are extended until 2012. Property acquired for consideration after publication of the Act is excluded.
