Insurance contract tax exemption for electric vehicles (2021-2023)
Article 153 of the 2021 Finance Act exempts from the special tax on insurance contracts (Article 995(11 bis) of the General Tax Code) contracts covering motor vehicles powered exclusively by electricity whose registration certificate was issued from 1 January 2021, including the compulsory insurance portion. The exemption applies to premiums and contributions falling due from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2023.

Measure impact
Policyholders of electric vehicles registered from 2021 do not bear the tax on their car insurance contract between 2021 and 2023, lowering the cost of their premium.
