Extension of the contribution on printed paper (direct mail, catalogues)
Article 84 of the 2008 Finance Act rewrites Article L. 541-10-1 of the Environment Code. From 1 July 2008, any principal that issues or has printed paper issued to end users, including free of charge, contributes to the collection, recovery and disposal of the resulting waste, not only issuers of unsolicited printed matter. The contribution is financial (paid to an approved body) or in kind; failing that, the TGAP applies. Books, press and legally required printed matter are excluded; correspondence other than direct mail is excluded until the end of 2009. The rates are set by Decree No. 2008-1298 of 10 December 2008.
