Funeral expenses deducted from the estate for a flat amount of €1,500
Article 14 of the 2003 Finance Act rewrites Article 775 of the General Tax Code: funeral expenses are deducted from the estate for a flat amount of €1,500, or for the whole estate if it is smaller. The measure applies to estates opened from 1 January 2003. It stems from an amendment by Gilles Carrez adopted by the National Assembly with the government's support; the Senate turned it into a flat-rate deduction without supporting documents.
