Intern stipends exempt from social contributions up to 12.5% of the hourly social security ceiling
Article 10 of the Equal Opportunities Act creates Article L. 242-4-1 of the Social Security Code: the part of the stipend paid to interns that does not exceed, per month, a percentage of the hourly social security ceiling multiplied by the hours of internship is not treated as pay subject to contributions. Decree No. 2006-757 of 29 June 2006 sets this percentage at 12.5% (art. D. 242-2-1) from 1 July 2006. The article also extends work-accident cover to these interns.
