Civil partnership (PACS): joint taxation from the year the pact is signed
Article 8 of the 2005 Finance Act removes the three-year waiting period for civil partners (PACS): they are taxed jointly for income tax from the signing of the pact, like married couples (Articles 6 and 7 of the General Tax Code). If the pact ends in the year it was signed or the following year for a reason other than marriage or death, each partner is taxed separately for those two years. The article also extends some gift and inheritance advantages to partners. These rules apply from the taxation of 2004 income.
