Passport: stamp duty exemption for minors under fifteen
Article 62 of the 2006 supplementary budget act, introduced by an amendment from MP Thierry Mariani, rewrites Article 953 of the General Tax Code: passports issued to minors under fifteen are now exempt from stamp duty, whereas all minors previously paid €30. Since 3 April 2006 children could no longer be added to their parents' passport. The rate remains €60 for adults and €30 for minors over fifteen and for passports issued urgently or by an authority other than that of the place of residence. Renewal remains free, within the remaining validity period, in case of change of civil status or address, administrative error or full visa pages. Part I applies from 1 January 2007.
