Disability compensation benefit granted without time limit when the disability is not expected to improve

Decree No. 2021-1394 of 27 October 2021 sets at ten years the maximum award period for each component of the disability compensation benefit (PCH: human assistance, technical aids, home and vehicle adaptations, specific and exceptional costs, animal assistance), which previously ranged from three to ten years depending on the component. It provides for an award without time limit when the disability is not expected to improve, the departmental disability centre then informing the recipient at least every ten years of the right to a reassessment. In force from 1 January 2022.

Measure impact

PCH recipients whose disability cannot improve no longer need to apply for periodic renewal; for others, a single maximum period of ten years applies to all components. It also aims to reduce the number of applications handled by disability centres.
