Cap on the 10% flat-rate deduction for professional expenses lowered to €12,000
The 2013 Finance Act lowered the cap on the 10% flat-rate deduction for professional expenses applied to wages from €14,157 to €12,000. Employees can still deduct their actual documented expenses. The provision was introduced by an amendment from the rapporteur general of the National Assembly finance committee, with the Government's support.

According to the Senate general report, the measure concerns nearly 112,000 taxpayers, whose wages exceed about €120,000 a year. It applied to 2012 income; the cap has since been indexed each year.
