« Il faut défiscaliser les heures supplémentaires. […] »

Translation: Overtime must be tax-free. […] The Left wants to abolish the income tax exemptions on overtime. I am answering them!

Translation: It is strange that in a country that created social security, a collective response to individual needs funded by social contributions, there are attempts to unravel it, on the one hand with exemptions, on the other by challenging an essential principle, namely that every hour worked must be taxed and subject to social contributions.

Or le plafond actuel décourage l’effort »

Translation: An extra hour worked should earn the employee the same, whether it is the first or the last of the year. Yet the current ceiling discourages effort

Translation: Your amendment proposes removing the €7,500 annual overtime exemption ceiling, but that ceiling is already considerable!

Translation: This amendment is somewhat more measured than the previous one, as it proposes raising the annual income-tax exemption ceiling for overtime to €15,000, from €7,500 currently.

  • Nicolas BonnetECOSAgainstParliamentary debate

Translation: Your measure will not benefit those who work for low incomes: it is those on high incomes to whom you will once again offer tax exemptions. It is deeply unfair!

Translation: That is why we will vote for Mr Verny's excellent amendment, which is both an incentive and budgetarily reasonable.

Translation: So amendments 2211, by Mr Verny, and 1231, by Mr Pauget, seem more reasonable to me: they would allow those who wish to work more, without hitting the public finances too hard.
