Additional 0.3% levy on Française des Jeux stakes for Euro 2016 stadiums
Article 79 of the 2011 Finance Act, from an amendment by Senator François Trucy adopted with the Government's support, adds to the levy on Française des Jeux lottery stakes (Article 1609 novovicies of the General Tax Code) an additional 0.3% levy from 2011 to 2015, capped at €24 million a year. Its revenue goes to the National Centre for Sport Development to fund the building or renovation of stadiums hosting UEFA Euro 2016. A Government amendment reduced the State's revenue from Française des Jeux games by the same amount. The levy was later extended beyond 2015, first to support Paris's bid for the 2024 Olympic Games, then until 2024 without earmarking.
