Social levies on capital gains from securities from the first euro
Article 17 of the 2010 Social Security Financing Act removes, for social levies, the annual disposal threshold below which capital gains on securities and company shares were not taxed. The CSG, the CRDS and the other social levies (12.1% in total in 2010) apply from the first euro of gain. The article also makes certain gains exempt from income tax subject to social levies, including some long-term business capital gains and certain income of incoming expatriates. Losses can be offset against gains of the same kind in the same year and the following ten years. The measure applies to gains made on or after 1 January 2010.
