Shared child-rearing benefit (PreParE) replacing the free-choice-of-activity supplement
The act of 4 August 2014 on real equality between women and men replaces the free-choice-of-activity supplement (CLCA) with the shared child-rearing benefit (PreParE), paid to parents who stop or reduce work. Part of the payment period is reserved for each parent. The decrees of 30 December 2014 set the durations: six months per parent for a first child, up to the child's first birthday; 24 months per parent from the second child, up to the child's third birthday; 48 months per parent for multiple births of at least three children.

Measure impact
Applies to parents of children born or adopted from 1 January 2015. For couples with two or more children, the maximum period is reached only if both parents take their share: a single parent in a couple can no longer receive the benefit until the child turns three. Single parents receive the extended period.
