Exceptional purchasing power bonus (PEPA) - 'Macron bonus'
Creation of the Prime Exceptionnelle de Pouvoir d'Achat (PEPA, exceptional purchasing power bonus), known as the 'Macron bonus', exempt from tax and social contributions for employees earning less than 3 times the SMIC (minimum wage). Paid from 2019 to 2022 before being replaced by the Prime de Partage de la Valeur (value-sharing bonus)

Measure impact
Bonus exempt from tax and contributions for employees earning < 3 times the SMIC. Amount varies by employer (average €400 in 2019, €458 in 2020). 4.8 million employees in 2019, 6 million in 2020, 4 million in 2021. Replaced by the value-sharing bonus in July 2022.
