Look-back period for prior gifts reduced from ten to six years
Article 8 of the 2006 Finance Act amends Article 784 of the General Tax Code: when calculating gift or inheritance duties, earlier gifts are only added back if they were made less than six years earlier, instead of ten. Allowances can therefore be used again after six years. The look-back period was raised to ten years by the amending Finance Act of 29 July 2011, then to fifteen years in 2012.
