Recentralisation of the RSA minimum income in French Guiana and Mayotte
From 1 January 2019, the State takes over funding of the active solidarity income (RSA) in French Guiana and Mayotte. Award, processing and payment are handled on the State's behalf by the family allowance fund of French Guiana and the body managing family benefits in Mayotte, under agreements with the State. In return, the State takes back resources previously allocated to the local authorities. A fifteen-year residence requirement for non-European foreign nationals in French Guiana was declared unconstitutional.
