8% fee on online horse-race betting for racing companies
Article 52 of the 12 May 2010 act creates a fee on amounts staked on online horse-race bets (Article 1609 tertricies of the General Tax Code), payable by licensed operators and intended to finance the public service missions of racing companies. The act sets a range of 7.5% to 9%; Decree No. 2010-909 of 3 August 2010 sets the rate at 8%. Article 34 of the 2011 finance act rewrote Article 1609 tertricies and correspondingly reduced the State levy on horse-race bets from 5.7% to 4.6%, from 3 August 2010.
