TV licence fee indexed to inflation from 2009
Article 97 of the amending finance act for 2008 supplements Article 1605 III of the General Tax Code: from 1 January 2009, the TV licence fee is indexed each year to the consumer price index excluding tobacco used in the report annexed to the finance bill, rounded to the nearest euro. For 2009 the indexation is 1.5%, raising the amount from €116 to €118 in metropolitan France. The article also changes the allocation of public resources among public broadcasting bodies. Law No. 2009-258 of 5 March 2009 then renamed the fee "contribution to public broadcasting" and set it at €120 (€77 overseas) from 2010, with annual indexation applying from 2010 itself.
