Micro-enterprise thresholds raised to €170,000 and €70,000
Article 22 of the 2018 Finance Act raises the turnover ceilings of the micro tax and social security regimes from €82,800 to €170,000 for sales and accommodation, and from €33,200 to €70,000 for services and non-commercial profits. It also simplifies the rules for leaving the regime. VAT franchise thresholds are unchanged.

Measure impact
More sole traders can stay in the micro regime (flat-rate allowance and simplified return): up to €170,000 of sales or €70,000 of services. Applies to income tax on 2017 income and to contributions due from 1 January 2018. About 5,900 businesses gain according to the assessment cited by the Senate.
