Reimbursement of reusable menstrual cups and period pants for under-26s and C2S beneficiaries
Under Article L. 162-59 of the Social Security Code, created by Article 40 of the 2024 Social Security Financing Act, Decree No. 2026-288 of 17 April 2026 organises health insurance coverage of reusable period products. Only menstrual cups and period pants included on a list can be reimbursed; insured persons under 26 and recipients of the complémentaire santé solidaire (C2S) can have two products covered each year. The decree sets the patient co-payment between 35% and 45%; the UNCAM decision of 9 July 2026 sets it at 40%. The order of 6 August 2026 lists cups and pants generically from 1 October 2026. On a transitional basis, and at the latest until 31 December 2028, reimbursed products are dispensed by pharmacies.
