Abolition of State support for youth employment in companies (SEJE)
Article 127 of the 2008 Finance Act repeals Articles L. 322-4-6 to L. 322-4-6-5 of the Labour Code, which set up State support for youth employment in companies (SEJE): a flat-rate aid paid to employers hiring young people with few or no qualifications on permanent contracts. The government presented the measure as a merger with the 'contrat initiative emploi'. Contracts that qualified for the aid before the law came into force continue to receive it.
Measure originators
A positive amount is revenue or savings for public finances; a negative amount is a cost or lost revenue.
Measure impact
Employers can no longer obtain State aid for new permanent hires of low-skilled young people; existing aid continues. The saving was estimated at €83 million.
