Creation of the special solidarity tariff for natural gas
Decree No. 2008-778 of 13 August 2008 sets up the special solidarity tariff for natural gas supply, open for their main home to people entitled to the social electricity tariff. For holders of an individual contract, it takes the form of an annual flat-rate deduction on the bill of €17 to €118 including tax depending on consumption and household size; households in buildings with collective gas heating receive a flat payment of €54 to €90 a year. Beneficiaries also get free connection and an 80% reduction on some call-out fees. In 2008 the tariff applies automatically to recipients of the social electricity tariff. It is funded by the gas public service charges (Decree No. 2008-779). The scheme was replaced by the energy voucher in 2018.
