15% regional surcharge on the tourist tax in Île-de-France for the Société du Grand Paris
The 2019 Finance Act creates a 15% surcharge on the tourist tax and flat-rate tourist tax collected in Île-de-France by municipalities and inter-municipal bodies (Article L. 2531-17 of the Local Authorities Code). It is collected with the tourist tax and then paid over to the Société du Grand Paris, which is building the Grand Paris Express metro network.

Measure impact
Tourists staying in Île-de-France pay 15% more tourist tax (for example €0.15 extra on a €1 per night tax). The revenue, estimated at about €15 million a year, funds the Société du Grand Paris.
