Additional tax on the annual tax on medicinal products for the management centres for health product trials
Article 23 of the 2005 Amending Finance Act introduces an additional tax on the annual tax on medicinal products and products holding a marketing authorisation (Article L. 5121-17 of the Public Health Code). Its rate is half that of the main tax and it is collected under the same rules. Revenue is allocated by order of the health minister among the management centres for health product trials set up as public interest groupings; it may not fund trials on embryonic stem cells or cloning. The tax applies from 1 January 2006 on sales made in the 2005 to 2008 financial years.
